Course Descriptor

Course Outline:

This training course provides the learner with the skills and knowledge to promote and maintain safety and health in the working environment. The learner is provided with the structure and systems necessary to manage safe working.

Course Objectives:

1.         To understand the  evolution of health and safety legislation and its historical application to the workplace.

2.         To understand the necessary structures and communications to be set up within the work place.      

4.         To understand how risk assessment and hazard identification are best applied.

5.         To understand how safety first aid and safety statements are implemented.

6.         To understand how fire protection is best applied.

7.         To appreciate the safety requirements associated with machinery, chemicals and manual handling

8.         To understand how occupational health is managed in theworkplace. 

Delivery and Assessment

The course is delivered in module format with approximately 30 hours of tuition.

Assessment of Learners is by Project Assignments and examination.
